IPTV Buffering: Common Causes and 6 Quick Fixes
📖 Table of Contents

IPTV buffering is one of the most annoying problems when you want to relax and watch, but it can often be fixed with a few simple steps. This post lists what to check when a stream stutters in a player such as AFKast.

Why does a stream buffer?

The usual suspects are an unstable internet connection, a weak Wi-Fi signal, too many devices on the same network, a busy stream source, or a device that is struggling to keep up.

6 quick fixes

  1. Use a network cable instead of Wi-Fi if you can.
  2. Switch the router off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on.
  3. Pause large downloads or other streams on the same network.
  4. Restart the app and the device, and install any available updates.
  5. If you use a VPN, turn it off and test again.
  6. Try another channel to see whether the problem affects one channel or all of them.

If the problem continues

If only one channel freezes, its source may be busy for a while. If every channel has trouble, check your internet connection or contact your service provider.
